Hello and Welcome to Crafting Confidence!
Hello and thank you for visiting. Please take a moment to look around our site, then feel free to contact us to learn how we can work together.
How We Got Our Start
Crafting Confidence was founded by Wendy Mahr. Before starting Crafting Confidence, Wendy had the opportunity to work with another non-profit to use her jewelry designing background and skills to teach middle school students how to make jewelry. During the session, she found that some of the students did not think they could complete the lesson. She helped them through the challenging parts and found that building their self-esteem while creating something beautiful could make her as happy as it did them.
Wendy was hooked when she and her team returned to the same school months later and the “cool kids,” who were previously aloof, quickly jumped up when asked who wanted to join them in another session. At that point she knew she had made a difference and that working with people and helping to “craft their confidence” would always be a part of her life!
Our Mission
Crafting Confidence strives to boost the confidence and self-esteem of everyone that participates in our workshops. We offer fun, interactive, hands-on projects, as well as online classes. Our goal is to bring out the talents and capabilities in everyone.
In addition to arts and crafts, we are very excited to teach people how to cook. Cooking your own food can improve your nutrition as well as your finances. With homemade food you can control the salt, sugar and fat in a dish as well as helping your wallet. And nothing says “I care” like cooking for someone—even if that someone is you!
At Crafting Confidence, we still believe in online classes. We’re aware “zoom fatigue” exists. However, we believe our online classes are engaging, fun and informative, and can reach people who prefer to take classes from home, whether they are home-bound, shy, lonely, or simply would like to learn how to use their own tools and appliances. We love answering questions live during the classes and helping people learn how to cook or craft a new skill. It’s all about “crafting confidence!”
